Present Time, Present Age!
She laid on the bathroom floor, phone in hand, in crises! I was on the other end of the line and could hardly hear her threw the sobs as she tried to catch her breath from crying so hard.
It took a good solid 10 minutes to get her to calm enough to tell me that she had thoughts of hurting herself. Old memories had surfaced from her childhood and had flooded her system with emotions. Each breakthrough statement was followed with hysterical tears, as she screamed over and over again that she just wanted to die.
At this point, my voice was strong, direct, and intentional on getting through to her. What is today’s date? How old are you? I repeated these questions over and over again. I could only hear her sobs, and being on the phone, had no idea what she was doing on the other side of the phone. Was she going to hurt herself, should I call 911, should I get her address and drive to her house? A million thoughts went through this nurse healers mind as I continued to try and reach her.
Then I yelled into the phone, very loud and slowly pronounced, “WHAT IS TODAY’S DATE?”. I then heard her voice state the date. I then loudly said, “AND…HOW OLD ARE YOU RIGHT NOW?” She sobbed again, and then she told me her age. Then there was a very long, what seemed like forever pause of quiet! I kept calling out her name over and over again. Nervous that she had done something seriously self harming.
Then…. she said, in the strongest, most adult, normal tone of her voice, “okay, this is weird!” What, is weird, I asked her? “Ummmm, I feel perfectly normal”, she responded. She then went on to describe what it felt like for her before stating the date and age and how she felt now. She stated that it was as if nothing had ever happened. She felt back to herself again and she did not feel like hurting herself at all. She was trying to wrap her mind around how just stating the date and her age could completely change everything!
This particular spiritual technique of reminding yourself of today’s date and your current age literally shifts your energy field back into the present moment. As a psychic healer, it is THE main technique, I keep in my back pocket. It is THE technique that I pull out and begin with no matter how large or small the issue is. However, on this day, with my client, who had reached out in crises, is when I experienced just how profound this technique actually is.
YOU do not need any special healing class training to use this technique. Just simply reminding yourself of the current date and age is all you have to do, anytime, anywhere. This is also a technique that you can use to help a friend, family member or co-worker, who might find themselves stuck in an old emotion.
A student, in class, collapsed on the floor, screaming, I am dying. I am being buried alive. Again, the student felt like she was experiencing a past life where she had been placed in a box and dirt was being put on top of her and soon she felt she was suffocate to death. I sat on the floor and asked her to remember what today’s date is, current age, as well as her current address and her name. She was able to shift out of it, and sit up as if nothing happened. Yet, it was all so real to her in that moment.
A friend, decided to go to college in a nearby town. He had never been a great student and in fact felt as if his public school years had been pretty traumatizing. Simply making the decision at the age of 25 to go back to school was bringing up all kinds of old childhood school memories. The first time I asked him how old he was, the age that popped into his consciousness was age 13. I asked him to redirect himself to his current age every time he felt anxiety building when making decisions around school.
He made the move to his new town, and began taking his college courses. When we spoke on the phone, asking his real age had become this running joke between us. Each time, his response would be a bit older, but never actually at his true age. I can still remember the phone conversation when he responded, age 21. We both did the happy dance because he had finally broken into the twenties as his baseline. It took almost a year before his response was the age of 25, his true age. I could hear it in his voice when he answered the phone. I was speaking to an adult male, not a 13 year old teenager. Each time, he had to remind himself of his true age, his human energy field would shift into the present moment. It would not always hold at his current age, because of the constant childhood school memories getting triggered but over time, those internal school triggers were so minimal that the anxiety could not even get a rise out of him.
I share this story because it happens to all of us. Anything can happen in life, we in turn, get emotionally triggered and our human energy field does not know the difference and your entire energy field can shift back into the age the memory happened. So it ends up feeling extremely real as if it is really happening but it isn’t. Then we react to our environment or the people around us and everyone is looking at us as if we are crazy. We feel crazy but can not seem to snap out of it. Stating the current date and your current age can do just that…..help you to snap out of it!
Holidays are fantastic examples of this and Christmas is right up there at the top! How often have you said to others or have heard others say…my memories of Christmas were not good and those memories can cloud and filter your ability to create new current present time memories. Around any holiday or birthday, remind your self often of the date and your current age so that each time you are triggered from past memories you can “auto-correct” yourself.
Your spirit, with just the slightest thought can move to what ever you are thinking about. Your spirit moves to the experience whether it is a past experience or a future experience you have not had yet. Or, you can be split, where part of your spiritual energy is in the past and the future. Based on my experience as a psychic healer, I would venture to say that about 80% of us here in the West, live split like this, with part of us in the past and part of us in the future. That is why this technique can quickly shift you into the present moment. Then over time you can retrain yourself to not split.
DEPRESSION: When a client comes in feeling depressed, low, isolated, fatigued, hopeless, and unmotivated, then I usually can see that their energy is stuck in the past. Take a moment to think about this. How often do you feel pulled to past memories and wonder what your life would be if things had been different? Or wish you personally had handled a situation different in the past, with the wisdom you have now. It is not possible to change what happened in the past. When you have so much of your energy reviewing past experiences, you can not do much about what is going on in this present moment because literally you are just not showing up here and now. Reminding yourself of the current date and age, can shift you from depressed to empowered. Now for some, it can happen pretty rapidly, but like in the story of the college student, it took a year of progressive reminders before it held permanently.
ANXIETY/PANIC ATTACKS: When a client comes in feeling anxious, wired, nervous, poor sleep patterns, talking fast, busy mind, and jumpy then I usually can see that their energy is stuck in the future. I call this “future tripping”! Fear, worry, and fretting about what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, month or year can send your energy into the future to feel into if it is safe for not. You are asking yourself, is it going to work, will I get the job, will I ever meet my soul mate, will I ever be able to have children, will I ever have enough money and so on. All of your energy moves into the future and your body has no idea where you have gone and panics! Reminding yourself of todays dates and current age can help shift you back into the present moment. However, worrying about the future is a learned behavior and it might take months and years to dismantle those old anxiety patterns but it is possible. I have witnessed it far too often to discount the healing properties of being in the present moment.
If you want to take this healing to another level, you can go through each of the 7 main human energy field chakras (Energy Centers) and present time, present age each of them individually. Before writing this blog, I thought I would go through each chakra for myself. I found that all of my chakras were present, except for my survival chakra, the root chakra. So just learning how to tweak your energy system until you feel like yourself again just takes a little time and patience.
Chakra 1 – Root chakra, holds survival memories, and it is located in the area between the hips.
Chakra 2 – emotion, creativity, sexual energy. Located just below the navel area.
Chakra 3 – Power, boundaries, self esteem. Located between the navel and diaphragm.
Chakra 4 – Love, located in the chest
Chakra 5 – Communication, located in the throat
Chakra 6 – Clarity, clear seeing, clear thoughts. Located in the head.
Chakra 7 – Spiritual oneness. Located at the crown of your head.
Go through each chakra and intuit what the date and age of each chakra is and if the answer shows up as different than your true current age and date then remind yourself to let your energy field know that it is not in the past or future and to come back to this present moment.
Again, this is a technique you can share with anyone at anytime. In fact, make it a game each day with your family or co-workers. Yes, you may need to see a therapist or healer if your energy field remains stuck even after you have stated the date. You may have an event that happened that may need to be worked through with the help of a professional, but for the most part, just stating the date and age and really help shift you back to center.
