Karmic Crises?
Are we in a Karmic Crises? Is there such as thing as, we reap what we sow or what goes around comes around? In this writing, let us explore what Karma actually is and what it might mean in our current Global Pandemic. Karma is a Sanskrit word meaning action and is considered Spiritual Laws. There are 12 main Karmic Laws and this short 5 minute video describes them beautifully!
The 5 minute video above provides clear defining clarity in a simple form about all the laws of Karma. Karma is a spiritual belief held by Hinduism and Buddhism cultural practices, therefore, this may or may not align with your beliefs. My writing serves to provide a possible theory to the greater experiences we are having on the earth during the global pandemic. This writing serves to entertain the mind and spark curiosity of thought. Not to debate on whether Karma actually exist or not.
Why do bad things happen to good people? I have often asked this question since my entire life has been devoted to service in one form or another. I have reached out to help when anyone is in need. I became a healer to express this core desire to help ease suffering and yet, I have experienced multiple tragedies in my life. So when Karma was introduced to me, there was a level of curiosity around this teaching.
The basic understanding is thinking of Karma as a bank account. When you create good Karma, by doing good deeds, being kind and caring, being in service, keeping your vibe up at a frequency that is uplifting to all, then you are adding what I call, crystal dollars to your bank account. If your intention is to hurt or harm others, be negative, take for yourself without regard of how it will impact others, then you take money out of the bank account. Therefore in its simplest form, if you are operating your life in the red, (deficit) then you can shift it by doing good. If you are in the blue, operating in abundance of good Karma, then good things continue to be gifted to you. I find this explanation a little too limiting, because you can be a good person and still experience crises and chaos.
For me, Karma can be only explained with deeper meaning if you include past lives and ancestral trauma that we hold in our own DNA. In past lives, we incarnate on earth to learn lessons. Once we complete a life, we carry with us the lessons that we still need to learn from. In our past lives, we may have hurt or harmed others, even though in this lifetime you are devoted to good. There is a term called, Killing Karma, where you may have caused someones death and that particular karma can take life times to amend. Or you may have been in great service to humanity over many lifetimes and now everything in this current life that you touch turns to gold because you have cultivated good karma.
There is another element of Karma that is connected to our ancestral lines. I have worked with several clients that are healers in this lifetime, they are pillars of wisdom and kindness in the community, yet tragedy comes far too easily for them. In our deeper work, it was revealed that a family member has murdered in the past, and now for generations to come it will be carried in the DNA until the family clears it.
I can give you a personal example of what happened to me. When ever I visited South Africa, I was told by the Sangoma’s (African Shaman) there that I was being called by my ancestors to initiate into being a Sangoma. I denied this truth for 8 years, as I did not understand what my own ancestors had to do with me being called to Africa, because I am considered a white woman from the United states. I did finally say yes, to this calling from my ancestors and later discovered when I had my DNA done, my paternal family came from Africa, and it was charted exactly where my ancestors were placed on a slave ship to travel to our coast. As much as I wished it was a love relationship that birthed my generation, it is highly likely, my ancestors were the result of forced pregnancy. However, when I studied, my maternal ancestral line. I found that my 6th time great grandfather was the captain of a slave ship that sailed from the same area! So, I had Karma on my paternal side of the family of sexual abuse that fathered the children of my ancestry AND Karma on my maternal side that harbored the Captain of slave ships. Then those two ancestral lines merged to try and heal those two horrific karmic hits to my ancestral lines that I draw upon in my current life. It blew my mind!
It blew my mind because …how in the world…..can I have one ancestor line, who was a slave and another ancestor another ancestor line that piloted the ship of that said slave ancestor? This is exactly what I am talking about when it comes to why bad things can happen to good people. Then, to have those two ancestral lines come together several generations later to merge through producing a child that will carry those two lines?
Your are influenced by your ancestors and your choices influence them as well.
There are some cultural teachings that believe we heal the trauma of our ancestors 3,5,or 7 generations back AND our behaviors today will influence 3, 5 or 7 of our generations into the future. Personally, I am a firm believer in this and it is deeply true for me. Meaning, I think about the lives of my grandchildren, great grand children and so on. I intend to create a life here on earth for my future generations that they can live on, in harmony.
Yet there are other forms of Karmic debt as well and that Karmic Debt is how we have treated the earth. My ancestors, have battled, killed, stolen, colonized, in the name of greed, power, and religion. My ancestors have destroyed acres of trees, polluted waters, moved others communities and families off of their land for their own benefit of choice acreage, oil, minerals. Do I feel that I deserve the wrath of the Corona Virus and global pandemic because of what my ancestors did? Not really! However, if this is how the Karmic laws work then yes, I will do my part, in service to try and correct my ancestors misdeeds as well as my own in my past lives.
We also have ancestors that have done a lot of great deeds for humanity as well. My own ancestral lines hold many ancestors that believe in being in service for the greater good. I carry those service genes in my own DNA. Past ancestors of good, provide me with strength, resilience, wisdom, and vision. I benefit from the goodness created before me. In fact, we all benefit from the goodness of the ancient ones who have come before us. How often do we take the time to be in gratitude for our gifts we have received? Even now, with this pandemic, we are receiving incredible gifts as an outcome of this tragedy. It is a personal choice and responsibility of how we choose to look at this crises on earth.
On the Big Island in Hawaii, I met a Kahuna, who’s family were the keepers of the teachings Ho’oponopono. I shared with her that I had read the book, Zero Limits, written by Joe Vitale. She laughed and said, oh, you learned the western way of the teachings! She went further to share, and I apologize if I do not get this as accurate as it deserves, that in her healing prayers she will set the intention that if her ancestors harmed my ancestors in anyway in the past, she asks to be forgiven. Then she went further to say, the if my ancestors harmed her ancestors in the past, she forgives my ancestors. Now, there is a lot more to these teachings than that but can you imagine you having those prayerful thoughts each time you meet a new person? An intention that you and I may be good with each other but that our ancestors may not be good with each other. She went further to say, that they will even include the celestial star beings in their ancestral lineages.
These ancient Hawaiian teachings take into the belief that we have Karmic Debt. We may debate this truth as westerners, but many indigenous cultures know that we are connected to each other going back since the beginning of time and that the need for deep healing on our earth is of primary importance right now. Are we in a Karmic Crises? If you go back several generations in your own family lines, you might be able to make a good argument that yes, of course we are!
One more idea for contemplating later. In Christianity, if you ask God to forgive you, or forgive others on your behalf, the teachings say that you are forgiven, you are cleansed. Your burdens are released. I mention this here because yes, I believe this to be true as well. You can go into meditational prayer, and ask that your ancestors be healed. You can ask if there is something that you can do to atone for what your ancestors did. When you ask with a sincere heart the spiritual world rises to meet you. You also may ask for your own tresspasses over someone elses life that caused hurt to be forgiven. Meditation and prayer, provide quiet contemplation to tend to these Karmic imbalances.
Meditating on your own Karmic Garden can assist you to tend to what it yours. Imagine yourself standing in your own person garden of life. Look around in your garden, at all the beautiful abundance of flowers that you have cultivated in your life. Turn 360 degrees and notice where your garden may need to be weeded, cleaned up. Bring your own consciousness to those areas and be aware of your own feelings, your vibe that you put out there when tending to those over grown areas. Is your first response, to feel sick, frustrated, judgemental, or critical of your garden? Shift your vibe to look at those areas in your garden that are unhealthy and open your heart, saying, I am going to make this part of my garden beautiful again! Remember, with Karma, what you put out into the world grows. Take responsibility and choose the vibe to radiate out into the world.
Ultimately, it is your right to choose what energetic operating system you choose to live by, such as culture, religion, and personal beliefs. Karma is simply a system that might assist us in explaining the higher spiritual cycle of life, or you can believe, life just is what it is and both beliefs can be right!

This is a beautiful read and makes good sense. It also helps me understand the deep lineage healing work I am being called to with my clients. Profound holy work that is such an honour.
Thank you Rochelle. I am certain you will find this new level of work for you a deep comfort to the soul. I know I did. Nancy
Thank you Nancy for this clear teaching – interpretative way of working with – karma. I was taught a very judgemental framework while living in Asia which made it a static action. This way of viewing and working with and transforming wounds and experience is very dynamic and offers a way to engage and dance with the transformational healing. grazie molto! Susan
Thank you Susan. I am all about simple and practical applications of ancient spiritual concepts. So glad you have had an experience that you just may take into your own work or work with others to explore as a healing option. Thank you for taking time to post. Sincerely, Nancy
With such gratitude Nancy. I enjoy these perspectives. During the meditation of my karmic garden, I found a section that I was not attending to at all. I asked for forgiveness and I forgave. Looking forward to seeing how this section grows. 🌹
